Our Story

A Beacon of Hope for Jewish Women in Need

Mishpachteinu is a Boro Park-based organization, dedicated to supporting Jewish single mothers, divorcees, and widows. Founded and run by Yehudis Sherman, a compassionate and caring mother herself, Mishpachteinu offers a nurturing community, meals, and critical resources to these women in times of isolation and despair.

When Yehudis Sherman became a single mother, she discovered firsthand the loneliness that many women experience on Shabbos. Being a people person, she extended her home and heart, transforming this day into a shared occasion filled with joy, unity, and the warmth of community. Word spread about Yehudis's Shabbos meals and the gathering grew from an intimate group of friends to a large gathering of up to 35 women. This was the start of Mishpachteinu - our family in Hebrew. Today, Mishpachteinu's services have expanded to include a food pantry, counseling, and more, providing a comprehensive support system that empowers and uplifts the women it serves. Mishpachteinu has become a beacon of hope, a place where women can feel seen, heard, and loved.
